Casey the Container: And Her First Day in Port

This picture book is about a shipping container and her first day at port. On one page it says who a couple of them are and what they carry, like Molly, who is full of melons. Shipping containers, trucks, and cranes are alive in this book, and some of them even talk to each other. Casey, the container, goes on a boat, a truck, and then finally gets taken to the distribution center.

This book would be a good story to read to younger children. It rhymes, and the water illustrations are intertwined and aren’t just one shade of blue. I also liked the flower pictures. There is an overhead shot of the boat on one page where you can see the containers’ colors. I think that is so cool. In this book, Casey learns how important containers are. It also has a glossary, which is helpful if you don’t know what something is, like a distribution center or a foreman. Some people might not know what shipping containers are, but in our world, they have their part.
