Description
Can You Grow a Striped Banana? is a story of a young girl and her mom interacting while talking about silly and nonsensical things that seem unusual, but end up showing the amount of love the mom has for her daughter. The mom is asked about her ability to do things such as baking a moonbean cake, blowing a snow tornado, and eating a sunshine sandwich, to name just a few, but ultimately, the girl wants to know, Can You Grow a Striped Banana?
The words and phrases don’t make much sense on their own, but when you understand that they aren’t meant to, then the sweetness of the ending makes more sense. I felt like this book has similarities to I Love You, Stinkyface and other similar stories for younger readers. The illustrations throughout the book are bright and full of color, making each scene pleasant to view. The target audience for this story would be all readers, as there is something enjoyable for everyone.
