Bright Eyes: A Kunoichi Tale
Kano “Risuko” Murasaki trains at the Full Moon, Lady Chiyome’s school for shrine maidens (and assassins), which is the only home she’s ever known since her father died. But when two armies appear at the Full Moon for no apparent reason, she begins to wonder if there’s more to the story than anyone is revealing. When a Takeda lieutenant is found murdered and staged as a suicide, Risuko’s world is turned upside down. She finds herself faced with two armies threatening to wage war at the Full Moon, a murder, and the truth about her father…
I liked this thrilling sequel to Risuko: A Kunoichi Tale because it was rich with Japanese culture and had fierce, interesting characters. I was especially drawn to Risuko because she was so fascinating and complex, with a thrilling arc that I loved. The fantasy elements were truly beautiful and engaging! I felt like I was there with Risuko in this vividly portrayed, smoothly written, and exciting coming-of-age adventure! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a wild, fast-paced ride!
