Lilico receives news that she and her family will be moving to New York City in the summer. While settling in her new school in NYC, Lilico wants to join the girls basketball team. Afraid to speak up and stand up for herself, Lilico tries to join the team but gets into an argument with Emma, the captain of the basketball team. With the help of her new friends and her cat, Nico, will Lilico be able to speak up for herself?
I love the plot, the story, and all the drama! While the plot revolves around joining a basketball team, the story is about friendship and fitting in. I didn’t expect Nico to be a talking cat, but he is super kawaii and funny. I like how he was so protective of Lilico whenever she talks to Noah. I really like the illustrations because I love manga. I highly recommend readers to check out Misako Rocks’ social media channels for drawing tips and to watch her draw Lilico and the other characters. I recommend this graphic novel to manga lovers because it is such a cute and beautifully drawn book.
