I like books and poetry, so I was excited to read Bookjoy Wordjoy. It’s written by Pat Mora and illustrated by Raul Colón. This book is a book of poems. One of the poems called “Our Cottage in the Woods” uses sounds in a creative way: “We tell stories and hear the wind, woooooooo, sing her lullaby.” My favorite poem, “Bookjoy Around the World,” talks about books. “We can read, you and I,/see letters become words/and words become books/and hold in our hands.” The illustrations are amazing which make this a book readers will enjoy reading and looking at pictures as well. I love words, too, so this poem really appealed to me. “All day, I collect words,/words that move, like wiggle,/glowing words, candle,/drifting words, butterfly,/singing words, ding-dong.” The poems show things that I love, like hugs and music. The author Pat Mora says, “I like poems. I like to read them, write them, and gather them together as a gift.” I believe this book is a wonderful gift for anyone who likes words, books, and poems!
