Bone Weaver
Seventeen-year-old Toma has spent the last seven years living on the Edge with her adoptive family of Umpyri– human corpses raised from the dead by magic– blissfully unaware of the world around her. But when a dirigible crashes in the nearby forest, and she rescues the dethroned Tsar Mikhail, things get complicated fast. And when the people hunting Mikhail capture her sister Galina instead, Toma must venture out into the vast world of the living to save her family. Can she save Galina before it’s too late? Or will she lose the only family she’s ever known?
I liked this book because it had lovable, unique characters and an immersive, rich setting! The plot was intricately woven and well written, though I do think it could have used an epilogue to finish tying off the story. It was fairly dense, and I feel there were some aspects of the plot that went largely unexplained, but overall I thought that this was a good book with lots of folklore woven into the story. For anyone who enjoys magic, monsters, and mythology, I would recommend this story to you!
