Big Ideas for Curious Minds: An Introduction to Philosophy
This book is a wonderful collection of philosophical concepts and is designed for children. It makes the ideas easier to understand and feel like you have a better understanding of what philosophy is. It takes ideas and questions that children have and provides good explanations of how everyone can grapple with these philosophical concepts. The language is simple and clear and the chapters are short but appropriate for this age level. Each philosophical concept is discussed with good examples in real life. It also discusses the philosopher who introduced the concept and gives good information about who they are and what their philosophies were. Equally important is the fact that it brings up thought-provoking questions. There are some useful illustrations that add to the explanations. This book is best for children who are eight-years-old and above. Older readers and adults could also enjoy the book as an introduction to philosophical ideas they may have not studied before. This is definitely a book I would recommend for everyone who has an interest in learning some of the basics of philosophy in a simplified way.
