Beyond the Pond
What happens in this book is, this boy lives in a house in front of a pond. He drops a rock in, but it doesn’t touch the bottom, and he can’t find the bottom with his fishing line either. So he dives down with some things and finally he reaches the other side. He finds a bunch of monsters and mythical creatures, and lots of adventures. Then he goes back to his house, and now around every corner and every bend there is an unexplored place.
The boy uses his imagination to go into the pond, and he passes sharks and squids and ships and all sorts of things, and so when he comes back he uses his imagination too. I like the pictures of all the things he finds on the other side of the pond, which is in his mind, or his imagination. He has fun and happy adventures, and scary things are there too, and it is a place just for him. I don’t know how to explain it, but I just like the book a lot.
