Besties Chanda and Beth are getting ready to attend their first middle school dance, but neither have a cute outfit or a date. Rest assured, Chanda has a plan though! Beth and Chanda will scour the mall to find the perfect outfit for the dance. And Chanda has made a list of potential dates, and she plans to drop hints to the boys in hopes that they ask her and Beth to the dance. Will Chanda’s plan work?

I really enjoyed the latest book in the Besties series. I was a little annoyed with Chanda in this book because she wanted everything to work out perfectly like she planned, but she made Beth feel bad about herself. I absolutely love the art in the series. I actually like the art more than the Click series because I think the characters are just cuter all around. I think illustrator Kristina Luu does a phenomenal job, and I love how she draws the characters with so much emotion and facial expressions. I love the drawing of Beth all dazed after she got asked out by Sam and she’s stumbling toward Chanda.

I highly recommend this book to kids who love friendship stories.
