Best Babysitters Ever
This is a humorous, entertaining, funny, and relatable book. Caroline Cala, the author, talks about things all kids today will know of, like Taylor Swift, Drake, and more! This is a modern book about friendship, growing up, and sibling rivalry. I really enjoyed how I, as a kid, could relate to the middle school characters, especially the crazy judgment of kids around you!
Cat-lover Bree, glitter-everything girl Malia (who tries to get everyone to call her Alia and falls in love with this boy who does not even know her name), Malia’s evil sister Chelsea, and Dot, a “zen” girl who loves junk food and has a health-conscious mom, all decide to start a babysitting club! Okay, well, Malia did. As they start a babysitting club, they struggle with finding jobs and watch kids that they think are kinda “gross.” Malia’s evil sister Chelsea jumps in with her perfectness and claims to be amazingly awesome because she has a professional-looking website and is way older than Malia and attends high school! They go through all this trouble with one goal in mind: to have an awesome thirteenth birthday party that lives up to those of their classmates, which means booking Drake and offering elephant rides! But to Malia it becomes more than that. It becomes about beating her sister, with all her perfectness, once and for all because Malia feels less appreciated by her parents. But during all of these struggles, Malia, Bree, and Dot have a fight that leaves them sad and heartbroken too. After the makeup, they realize that Malia’s sister’s business is not all that it is said to be. Will they expose her secret? Will they get to the bottom of it? Will they get their dream birthday? And in the end, will they stay babysitters? Read this FANTASTIC modern book if this sounds good to you! I suggest this mostly to the middle-school girls.
