Belle Morte (Belle Morte series)
Belle Morte is a house of vampires. In such houses, vampires are treated like royalty and feed off of “blood donors”––humans who sign up to feed the vampires.
Renie Mayfield, however, isn’t there for the glamour and prestige that comes with being a donor. She’s there to find out what happened to her sister, June, who mysteriously vanished from Belle Morte. But Belle Morte won’t let its secrets go freely, and Renie struggles with that reality and her attraction towards the vampire Edward Dantés. As more and more secrets come to light, Renie begins to discover the horrific truth of what happened to June and what sinister consequences may await her.
This book was fairly entertaining, with an easy-to-follow plot line. Renie was a unique heroine with an interesting arc, and I liked her interactions with the other characters. Her and Edmond’s romance seemed a bit forced at times, and somewhat stereotypical, but they weren’t a bad match. The plot twist was not expected, and I liked it. The book ended at the right place, and I’m excited to see where the story goes!
