Aaron and Zelda, an anteater and a porcupine, are friends. They have a lot of fun together, but Zelda’s family must move and they must part ways. Zelda is very upset about it and decides to have one last day of great fun with her friend, pretending nothing is happening. They do just the things they always do: swinging, playing ball. Aaron licks Zelda with his long, long tongue, or steals her ice cream with it. Zelda has been told that their new house will be great, and even Aaron tells her that everything will be ok, but when she thinks about it, she is still very upset about going away. She knows she will miss her friend so much, until she unpacks in her new room and finds Aaron’s notes. Her friend keeps writing to her and looks forward to her next visit. Zelda does the same and she is happy.
This book made me laugh a lot. I found the anteater funny in all his pranks using his tongue. Also, I saw how strong the friendship can be, even when friends do not see each other very often. Like my cousins that are on the other side of the ocean, but we are still great friends when we see each other in the summertime.
