Be Brave, Little Penguin
The hero of Be Brave, Little Penguin is a penguin chick who is scared of the water. Pip-Pip builds a little igloo from ice blocks to hide in so no one else will see his tears. Pip-Pip’s father doesn’t understand why the chick is afraid to swim. The other penguins all have fun swimming in the water. Pip-Pip is scared that the water will be too cold and that he won’t be able to swim. Maybe there are even monsters underwater! His mom makes him jump into the water by telling him to be brave. When Pip-Pip jumps in, he realizes there are no monsters, it’s not cold, and he can swim. This story is about being brave and facing fears.
Someone who likes picture books will like this book with its funny and silly penguins. I like tiny Pip-Pip because he reminds me of when I was five and I didn’t want to jump into a swimming pool. This is a good story for little kids who have fears that other people may not understand.
