Basher History: States and Capitals: United We Stand

This is a wonderful book about the states. Each state gets two pages. One page states a brief history, a couple of fun facts, size, and population. The other page is a picture of the state along with a map with the state highlighted. This book also covers United States territories. These also have two pages for history and map. At the end of the book is a listing of each state’s motto and a glossary.

I highly recommend this book to anyone learning about the United States of America in school or at home. There are some interesting things that I think adults may not know. It would be perfect for older kids and adults to read for review. And because it is simple, an older sibling or friend could help a younger sibling/friend. The book is written from the states’ point of view. I find this to be a fun way of presenting the information. The colorful pictures of the states are cute too, with small icons of landmarks or other things each state is known for.
