Backwards Moon
Nettle and her cousin Bracken are the only children in the witches’ hidden valley. The woodfolk disappeared long ago, and the cousins’ mothers left the valley searching for their fathers. There has been no word about them since then. One day while Nettle and Bracken are out playing, the veil that hides the valley is broken and humans enter. While the cousins send them away quickly enough, with the veil broken, it is only a matter of time before more humans come. And with the humans comes death to the witches. With impending death for all the witches, Nettle and Bracken are the only chance the witches have for survival.
While not very long, this book is engaging, hooking me from the start. There is never a dull moment. The cousins’ voice pulled me in, and I wanted to know more about the playful and strong willed Nettle, and her older cousin, Bracken. I really enjoyed reading this. Though this seems like a stand-alone book, there’s still some potential for a sequel, so perhaps there will be more adventures for Nettle and Bracken.
