B. Bear and Lolly are very good friends. They like the same things and enjoy doing the same activities. At the end of the summer the two realized it was almost time for school. B. Bear said that he’s ready to do math and science and learn to read. Lolly said she’s excited about recess. B. Bear and Lolly went to the woodcutter’s store and tried on a few different first day of school outfits. The first day of school came and B. Bear and Lolly ate breakfast together and B. Bear was in a hurry. Because B. Bear was in a hurry to get to school, Lolly showed him a shortcut. B. Bear and Lolly went on an adventure and learned to help each other along the way. Suddenly B. Bear and Lolly fell off a log and into the water. They enjoyed it so much that they almost did it again. After they got out of the water, B. Bear got sad because all of his school supplies were getting carried away by the forest animals.

My favorite picture in the book is the picture of B. Bear and Lolly in their perfect school outfits. This book is a little advanced for beginning readers, but it holds their interest because it tells the story of getting ready for the first day of school.
