This is a fascinating book about a food chain within a marsh. The marsh grows algae, which is eaten by the mayflies. Those are a type of insect, just like ladybugs! Water spiders eat mayflies, but dragonflies eat the water spiders. And so it goes, that every creature is eaten by another higher in the food chain, except for the eagle, who is at the top of this particular food chain.

My favorite part of the book is when the mama eagle feeds the fish she caught in the marsh to her pretty little eaglet babies. They are so fluffy and cute!

The pictures in this book are truly beautiful. They make me feel like I am really in a marsh, observing it like a scientist. The best pictures are of the tadpoles, because they are cute, and the eagle catching the fish, because she is so fierce!

I love this book so much because I love animals and nature. Also, I love to learn about different habitats and ecosystems. If your child is a little scientist like me, I am sure she will love it, too!
