Arthur and the Forgetful Elephant is about a little boy named Arthur who finds an old elephant who can’t remember his name. The elephant is crying because he is sad that he is having trouble remembering. Arthur thinks about how forgetting things would make him feel. Arthur suggests that they do other things to take his mind off his problem. Arthur and the elephant play and find some of his friends, who he lets draw with sidewalk chalk all over him. It gets time for Arthur to go home and the elephant meets Arthur’s family. Meeting Arthur’s family reminds him of his own family, but he still has to find them.

I like this book because it gives good ideas for when you get upset about not remembering something. I haven’t had this problem much, but my mom says that I will when I’m older. I like that Arthur wanted to help the elephant instead of leaving it alone and that he thought about how the problem would bother him. I like that there is a happy ending because I would be sad if I didn’t see my family again.
