Are You Sleeping

Ellie, age seven, helped me review the children’s book Are You Sleeping. Ellie says, “I like this one because there are elephants! Little lion goes around in the book and asks the different animals if they are sleeping yet. All of the animals are already sleeping except for one animal at the end. I would be like the other animals and the elephant and already be sleeping. On each page, you see the lion asking if the animals are sleeping, then on the next page, you see what animal he is talking to and see if they are already sleeping or not. I could not stay awake all night and then all day.

Are You Sleeping is a simple children’s story that allows the child to guess on one page, and then see what animal lion is talking to on the next. Lion speaks to many different animals that some children may not be too familiar with, such as a sea horse. At the end, lion knows what is the best thing to do at the end of the day and will not succumb to temptations otherwise.
