Amazing Moms: Love and Lessons From the Animal Kingdom

This book shows how moms love and care for their babies in the animal world. Every story comes with gorgeous pictures of the animals. I thought already that moms were great, but I had no idea animal moms were that way too.

Some frogs carry their tadpoles on their back to the water, in order to protect them. Mama penguin walks 50 miles to eat a lot of food and regurgitate it into the baby’s mouth (that means she throws it … which is kind of gross but it sounds like it is the only way the little one can eat something in the cold winter). Several types of animals spend years teaching their babies to hunt and to take care of themselves… just like my mom, the cheetahs, the elephants and the humpback whales do so. The orangutan mom prepares a bed for herself and her baby every night. A soft bed made with branches and leaves and a roof too, if it’s raining. Some moms become very mean in order to protect their babies, like the crocodiles and the sloths. I believe it! I’m sure my mom would do the same if I was in danger.
