Amari and the Great Game is the wonderful sequel to Amari and the Night Brothers. The story continues where the last book left off, telling how Amari has to struggle with the backlash of everybody knowing that she is a magician and the bad treatment she gets because of her magical abilities. This time, Amari and her friends have to work hard to protect the magic world and the real world from actually going to war while avoiding the scrutiny of those who want her to stay out of it. On top of this, Amari is forced to secretly play in a “Great Game” to decide who will lead the magicians. She vows not to share any information about the game with anyone who is not a magician and even risks losing her best friend because of this secret. It is a lot for one young girl to handle, but Amari is definitely one-of-a-kind. Get the book to find out how Amari deals with so much responsibility and judgment while still having to handle past memories of being betrayed by somebody she thought she could trust.

I really liked how the story was developing until I got to the end. In the end, I was really disappointed and upset with the outcome, but nonetheless, this book was a great addition to my personal library. The good thing is that I already know another book is coming because there’s no way the story ends here! Anyone who loves fantasy and believes that there is a touch of magic in everything will love reading Amari and the Great Game.
