Always Share Your Iceberg: A Penguin’s Guide to Life by Jamison Odone is a book full of inspirational quotes. Any adult who opens this book will enjoy the adorable drawings and the famous sayings; unfortunately I am not an adult, so I felt this book quite boring. This adult coffee-table book has quotes kids might not understand, such as, “You’ve got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down.” – Ray Bradbury. I certainly didn’t understand this one. Although I did not understand most of the text, the illustrations were very amusing. My favorite was what appears to be a penguin in an alternate universe and a little doorway to get out. Next to it is the quote: “I have had a wonderful time, but this wasn’t it.” – Groucho Marx. I am not sure if all kids would not like Always Share Your Iceberg: A Penguin’s Guide to Life or just ones who like the more action-based books. The name of this book is very cute and ties into the drawings but not into the writing. I loved the drawings, and I hope one day Jamison Odone can create a book like this that kids can understand.
