Alliance: The Paladin Prophecy, Book 2
Will West and his friends/roommates have special powers. Last book, the mysterious cripple Nepsted saved Nick; this leads Will to question Nepsted for information on the evil Knights of Charlemagne. Nepsted needs the key to his cage before he will talk about anything. The filthy rich Haxley owns the property where the key is hidden; the team sneaks into the tunnels and is led to even more mysteries, all the while being chased by the evil Mr. Hobbes. Upon return to the school, Will gets a message from Dave, his undead trainer, who sends will to find the Carver, a gun-like object which opens a portal to another dimension where Dave is trapped. Can he fulfill all these expectations and still elude Hobbes and his men?
I was a little bit lost because I didn’t read the first book. I liked the plot twists in the story, and it was engaging. I think the children are really overpowered, though. I wish that there was more about the other dimension, but I am hopeful that will come in the third book.
