African Icons: Ten People Who Shaped History
African Icons is a nonfiction book with facts about ten ancient African people who shaped history. Many people don’t know about them, but without them, our world would not have turned out the same. Did you know that the very first pharaoh was a black man? Did you know that there was a man named Mansa Musa who, at his wealthiest, had about $400,000,000,000 by today’s standards? Many icons in the book have created dynasties. Amazing right?! This book is full of incredible facts and stories that you wouldn’t believe about these men and women, some you may know and others you may have never even heard of.
African Icons is a great read for people ages ten and up. It empowers Black kids, informing them that they can do great things just like the people before them. I would recommend this book to kids who are history buffs and anyone else who likes to learn and discover new things. This book had me intrigued the whole way through. Though it may not look that big, it is very informative and jam-packed with amazing facts. You should definitely buy the book to discover the stories of Africans who shaped history!
