A Thousand Theos: Doubling (Math Matters)
This is a book about math in the story, and it’s a book about doubles. The main characters in this book are Jordan and Benny. Jordan and Benny are friends. In this story, Benny loses his puppy Theo, and Jordan tries to use doubles to come up with a plan to find Theo. “Jordan felt much better. Eight signs – that was pretty good! Maybe somebody would see one and find Theo. Benny would be so happy!” Did Jordan’s plan work? You’ll have to read the story to find out.
What I liked most about this book was the math of doubling numbers. It’s fun! I would describe the illustrations in this book as being colorful drawings. I liked everything about the book, especially the math problems on some pages. A quote from this book that I really liked is, “I wish I could do more to help.” I would like to be a good and helpful friend like Jordan. I would also like to be good at all kinds of math problems!
