A Robot World: Discover Amazing Robots and their Robotic Powers
A Robot World is a cool book about the different types of robots there are in the world. This book teaches you about popular robots, how they function, and sometimes a history of how they’re made. It clearly opens up the world of robots and describes how each country is racing the others to invent new robots. There are robots that go to space, robots that go under the ocean, and robots that work in fields or drive cars like any human being. Scientists are not only trying to mimic the human, they have also successfully designed robots as an alternative to animals or anything man or machine does in this world, like robot pets and flying robots. Amazingly, there are even nanorobots that go inside the body and treat disease. My favorite part was when they talked about Robo Pets. I liked them because they had cooking gadgets in them. I also liked the part about how to make your own robot. Here are some interesting facts: there is an all-robot rock bank named Compressorhead (I watched their music on YouTube–it’s unbelievable). There is something called Robo Cup where robots compete against each other in soccer. Did you know robots existed as early as the 1600s? A Swiss watchmaker made one of the most lifelike robots in the eighteenth century, and it could write 40 character-long scripts without any help. I would recommend this book to fourth through sixth graders, and to kids who like robots and gadgets. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and dive into a world of robots.
