There is a woman who is sitting in her room in a big city, and she can see the river going by outside her window. She is thinking about where it is going and what it would be like to go with it wherever it goes. First it goes through the city and under the bridges and through the buildings and everything is very dirty, but then it gets cleaner as it goes away from the city. The woman thinks about being on a boat and sailing past farms and into hills and even into the jungle where she hears lots of animals. Finally, she goes all the way to the ocean. But when it rains, she is just back in her room in the city again.

I like this book because it is fun to think about going with the river. I like looking at the pictures, especially where she is in the jungle with all the animals and when she goes over a waterfall. The pictures have lots of things to look at and find. If you like to imagine going to different places, you will like reading this book.
