A Reaper at the Gates
A Reaper at the Gates has left me speechless beyond repair. I can’t. I just can’t go on knowing that I have to wait for another book! Laia, Elias, and Helene are characters who are strong, determined, and, at times, ruthless when they need to be. I was a bit scared of what would happen after everything that happened in A Torch Against the Night came out. The waiting game is always the hardest. Our main characters are on the brink of war, and everywhere they look, something terrible is happening to them. I loved these books for the sole reason that the character development and action are beyond my wildest dreams—there’s never a dull moment. The romance isn’t as present as I would like, but what it lacks in love, it more than makes up for in other things, such as new (and old) characters we get introduced to. Or having some kind of empathy towards a certain emperor; you’ll see once you read. My head was all over the place wondering where Tahir would take us next. Now, with the way the book ended, I need more. Readers looking for an epic fantasy that’s set in a terrifying world and has characters who fight hard with every fiber in their being, this is the book for you!
