A Lot of Silly: A Book of Rhymes and Nonsense
Joy Cowley, author of the Mrs. Wishy-Washy and Lizard and Snake series, now gives us A Lot of Silly! Inside this book is exactly what it says… so much silliness! Thirty-nine “rhymes and nonsense” feature different animals, including lizard and snake, cats, elephants, mice, etc., doing crazy things you need to read to believe, which might still be questionable.
The writings are short, from two to four sentences to two to three pages, with plenty of colorful pictures across each page to attract your eyes. The stories will best be understood by elementary-aged readers and older because of a few bigger words, but the rhyming helps the reader to guess what will come next in the text.
Some of the stories had me laughing out loud! I, personally, liked the stories with the cats, but they were all great. They reminded me of Where the Sidewalk Ends.
