A Hundred Thousand Welcomes
A Hundred Thousand Welcomes is about saying “welcome” in a lot of languages. When you say “welcome,” you are saying that you are okay with someone being near you or coming into your house. In the story, a little girl is saying “welcome” to people from all over the world who look different and speak differently than she and I do. The girl says that no one is a stranger in her house or when they are near her, and she acts nice to everyone who comes. In the end, they all enjoy a good-looking meal together at a long table with lots of different foods laid out and smiles on their faces.
A Hundred Thousand Welcomes is about being nice to everyone you meet. I could not say “welcome” in very many of the other languages. The people in the pictures looked nice, even if they looked and spoke differently than me. I understood most of the story; it was a different kind of book than the normal stories I read. This story is good for kids of any age to read and learn to be nice to everyone they meet because others aren’t that different.
