A Friendly Town That’s Almost Always by the Ocean!
The book A Friendly Town That’s Almost Always by the Ocean! is a very interesting story. In it, a boy named Davy Jones moves to a place called Topsea because his mom got a job at the seaweed cracker factory. He really misses his dad, who passed away, and is convinced no one will ever think he’s normal. However, Topsea is the exact opposite of normal. Mermaids are historical figures, but dogs are legends. There’s a statue of a mermaid that moves about the town, rubber ducks with their eyes rubbed off appear everywhere, and, worst of all, Davy’s locker is at the bottom of the swimming pool. Somehow, despite all this craziness, Davy makes a lot of friends, even though none of them can quite remember his name. There are lots of mysteries to be solved, and the children of Topsea are going to be the ones to solve them. What’s up with the ice cream man and his dangerous ice cream? (Is anyone up for live bees in their ice cream? Or how about mystery teeth?) Why are rubber ducks with rubbed off eyes following people around? Davy and his friends are discovering the mysteries of Topsea one basement at a time.
