A Complicated Case (Detective Gordon)
Detective Gordon and Buffy, a police officer, notice that the woods seem suprisingly quiet lately. So they go to investigate, and Gordon finds a snake. Snakes eat frogs, so Detective Gorgons didn’t really like the snake, but he heard the snake mumbling something about someone insulting it, calling it wet and slimy. Meanwhile, Buffy had heard a crow, crying. She went to tell Detective Gordon what she’d found. When they were together again, they saw a rabbit crying, and the rabbit mumbled to itself “I can’t tell the police; that will just make things worse.” So Detective Gordon went back into his house and told Buffy that someone was probably going around the woods insulting people. They have to find out who is insulting everyone.
This is an interesting mystery. It is fun to try to figure out the mystery before Detective Gordon and Buffy do, although it is more fun to just keep reading and find out what is happening along with them. Detective Gordon and Buffy make a good team, and they work really well together to solve the case. The book has a good message too, and a nice ending that kids will like.
