Hi! My name is Farrah and I read the book A Blind Guide To Stinkville. It is about a girl named Alice who has Albinism, which means that her skin is whiter than paper, she is extremely sensitive to the sun, and she is blind. Her family moved from Seattle, Washington to Sinkville, South Carolina. Everybody calls Sinkville Stinkville because it stinks. When Alice goes to the library, she makes a new friend named Kerica. Then, Alice finds out that her parents want to send her to a specialized school for blind kids, but Alice does not want to go. Then Alice enters the Sinkville Success Stories essay contest to prove that she can do stuff on her own, even though she is blind. But not even her new friend, Kerica, believes that she can do it alone, so when she asks Kerica to help, she says no because she thinks that she will end up doing all of the work. They get into a big fight and they stay mad until soon Kerica apologizes and they are best friends, but Alice says that she wants to work alone. Alice goes to William’s Diner and talks with Gretel [a lady who works there] and Mayor Hank and then they take Alice and Kerica to the Sinkville Sycamore. When Alice goes to the library, Tooter [Alice’s dog] gets grounded for peeing and scratching a girl named Sandi. Then Tooter is taken to a shelter because of that. When they go to see Tooter at the shelter, they see an Albino Squirrel and while Alice is petting it, she accidentally hits it and it bites her finger and she has to go to emergency care. When Alice goes to library, she ends up helping Sandi because she has Dyslexia. Then, they order pizza. When Alice goes on a tour of a school for blind kids, she meets a kid named Ryder who has a fake eye. Soon, it is time for everybody to present their essays and just as she wanted, Alice won and she proved to everybody that she can do stuff on her own. I think that this is a good book for ages 8-12.
