13th Street #2: The Fire-Breathing Ferret Fiasco (HarperChapters)
Zany cousins Malia, Dante, and Ivan are back in this sequel book. Trouble can’t possibly happen to them again, can it? What is the old lady Donya Chabela doing in their hometown? Why is it every time the kids see her, things get strange and they go to an unfamiliar world full of new creatures to battle?
This time, on their way to school with their friend and bus driver, they happen upon a downed tree and somehow get transported back to 13th Street. Mega bats are not waiting for them, but fire-breathing ferrets are. The cousins can use special words to open and close the garage doors to stay safe, but they then run into a family of zombies. Could things get any worse? Luckily, the zombies aren’t there for their brains.
This chapter book is fun and will also keep you on the edge of your seat with suspense about what will happen to the cousins. The book has lots of illustrations to help readers visualize the crazy world of 13th Street. This is a great book series with the perfect balance of suspense and fun.
