This book unfolds into a map of the Amazon. It’s an extremely long rectangle. It is eight pages long. You have to find the numbers. Each number has a fact. There’s more information on the back. This book won’t fit in your lap, but it’s fun to read.

I learned new things. I learned about places, tribes, and festivals. Most of the houses are in water. Some have poles and some are on rafts. Tribes use piranha’s teeth for tools. I already knew about the animals. The goliath bird-eating spider is scary. Giant monkey frogs lay their eggs on branches over pools. The tadpoles drop down into the water when they hatch. I want to go there sometime. I’d like to sit on the giant lily pads. I would most like to see a South American tapir.

The pictures are good. They look like cartoons. I want to find out more about the Boi Bumba Festival. I would not like to be a member of the Satere-Mawe tribe. I would not want to become a man. You have to wear gloves with bullet ants on your hands for ten minutes while people sing and dance. You have to do this twenty times! I would read more books in this series. This would be a good book for travel.
