The Wearle (The Erth Dragons #1)
Gabriel is fighting to get a mate when an accident happens; Gabriel is blamed for the accident and must find a way to prove to the other dragons that he is innocent. Meanwhile, Ren Whitehair, a boy from a small human village (also known as the Homs), admires the dragons (also known as Skalers) instead of fearing them like the rest of his village. The other villagers are disappointed in Ren for loving dragons. But his love and curiosity for the beasts might cause more than anger from the locals.
I think Chris d’Lacey did a great job writing the story. I like how the story is shown from two sides by Ren Whitehair and Gabriel the dragon. The Erth Dragons: The Wearle is a creative and interesting book. The plot and characters are very detailed and nicely described in the story. It is adventurous and action packed. I would recommend it for seventh grade to high school age. It is a little bit violent and might be hard to read for younger ages.
