Serpentine
If you don’t like romance, don’t read this book. It’s full of it, and it’s intended for mature audiences. I think ages 16 and older. If you love supernatural romance, this action-filled love story is for you.
It’s about a girl named Skybright who starts out as a handmaiden but soon learns she can transform into a serpent demon. When her mistress runs away, Skybright discovers that demons are escaping from the underworld, and she is the key to stopping them, even if it involves a very large sacrifice.
I did not like the mushy love stuff at all, which is a big part of the story. But it’s still a better love story than Twilight. Even with the romance, the overall story, a supernatural action mystery, was good. The mystery part, trying to figure out how to get rid of the demons, kept my interest through the love stuff. The action scenes were awesome, like when Skybright, as a serpent demon, beat up a bunch of demons. She is one tough and particularly scaley cookie.
If you like supernatural love stories with a solid, action-packed mystery, you’ll love this book. I don’t recommend it for younger audiences because of the mature love scenes.
