Salt to the Sea
Salt to the SeaA realistic book about what it would be like to survive in World War II. This book starts out where 4 teenagers from different countries must survive in Germany. They all have dark secrets that they keep to themselves. They survive by scavenging for food and shelter until they make it to the Wilhelm Gustloff ship. The plot had a lot of cliffhangers and it was breathtaking. I got to know the characters very well and I was able to relate to their feelings and thoughts. I was stunned by how brave the characters were in some situations. The language of this book is well written and explained how tragedies felt to the characters. The cover illustration depicts gloominess. Kid ages 12 and up should read this book. If you are interested in historical fiction and like to read about World War II then this book is perfect for you. I definitely recommend this book for people who love a tale about endurance and optimism! This was such an excellent anecdote that I never wanted to end!
