Roxie the Doxie Finds Her Forever Home
Roxie is a dachshund (“doxie”) who moves from her foster home to her forever home. Roxie feels scared and nervous about going to a new home. She wonders what her new mom will be like or if her new house will be big or small. Will there be dangerous things there that can hurt her?
When her new mom’s car pulls up, Roxie is nervous, but tries to pretend that she is not nervous. She wonders if her new home is far away. At her new home, Roxie meets Mina, who is her new sister. They play all day until they fall asleep exhausted. Overall, Roxie is very happy in her new home.
There are pages at the end of the book that help adults talk to children about adoption. There is also a section about the real Roxie!
I think it would be very scary to go from living in one house to another! I didn’t know that some children and animals have to live in a foster home before I read this book. My mom and I talked a lot about it!
The pictures in this story are pretty and cute. Roxie and the other dogs are adorable!
