Pete’s Dragon: The Lost Years
Pete’s family goes on a road trip to the Pacific Northwest and their car crashes. Pete is left in the woods alone at age five. Pete then meets a dragon named Elliot and they become friends. Elliot teaches Pete how to survive and about life.
I think that Elizabeth Rudnick did a good job in writing //Pete’s Dragon: The Lost Years//. This book is based on the movie Pete’s Dragon, but as the title implies, it fills in information that wasn’t in the movie about the relationship between the boy and his dragon. This book is better than the movie adaptation. I think the story is well-paced, the characters are well-developed, and the story flows well. I think the characters, dragon included, learn a lot of things and grow. The action is slow at first, but soon picks up around the sixth chapter. I would like there to be a second book. I think this book would be good for readers for ages eight through ten who like dragon and adventure stories and want to discover more about the relationship between the two friends.
