Pete’s Dragon Junior Novel: With 8 Pages of Photos From The Movie!
This book is the adaptation of the recent Disney move. It is about a five-year-old boy named Pete and his family who go on an adventure to the Pacific Northwest. While they are driving, the car wheels spin out of control. Then the car gets turned over, and Pete’s parents die. It’s a little sad, and you wonder what’s going to happen to the kid, but it turns out okay. In the forest he meets a dragon named Elliot. Six years later, Pete is 11, and he and Elliot live in the forest together. But when everybody knows that Pete is living in the forest and men want his dragon, Pete has to make a choice.
Pete’s Dragon by Landry Q. Walker was okay. I saw the movie and I thought the movie was better. It made more sense. The book leaves out a lot of stuff. I would suggest watching the movie first because you might not get the book if you did not watch the movie. The action is very slow at the beginning, with the author trying to introduce the characters and the conflict, and then it starts to get better at the end. The author was not able to describe the action and the struggles that well. This book would be good for ages eight to ten if they are dragon fans, or if they can’t go see the movie.
