That was truly excruciating to finish. I have high hopes when it comes to reading a Robin Palmer novel. Her books are usually filled with the light, fluffy romance that’s easy to love. So of course I was excited about reading Once Upon a Kiss because how could anything possibly go wrong with a wonderful title such as that?

Upon reading the book, I knew from the very first chapter that this was going to be a tough sell. I like that it had a ’13 Going on 30′ vibe to it but that’s where my love for it ended. It may have also been the reason I couldn’t like the book.

Zoe Brenner is in short, a judgemental girl who secretly wishes to be like the same people she judges. The popular kids. She decides to run for class president but after an accident, she’s sent thirty years into the future. In this lifetime, she’s the queen bee, has the hot boyfriend, and let’s not forget that her best friend, Jonah, doesn’t speak with her. That’s the gist of the story. The characters are beyond annoying and shallow. I thought that there would be some character growth and that in the end I would love them, but that wasn’t the case. High school kids do not act that way!
