Lucy and Andy are two children from the Stone Age who live in a cave on a mountain and go on adventures together. I particularly liked the chapter where Lucy is drawing a mammoth hunt on the cave walls. Her drawings are so perfect and detailed even though she’s never had any art lessons. This exaggeration was very funny! I also really appreciated the pages of historical information at the end of every chapter. It helped me understand the context of some of the scenes in the book. I especially liked the page after a chapter about toothaches because it explained some real plants a Neanderthal might have used for medicine. It was written like a cartoon, so there were plenty of illustrations. I liked how the pictures really captured the personality of each character. I think this is a great book for children to read, but not especially for grown-ups because there is a lot of “potty humor.” However, people who are interested in the Stone Age period would really enjoy this book. If this book was made into a series, I would definitely want to read more about Lucy and Andy’s adventures! I had a great time reading this book and even laughed out loud several times!
