Lily and Dunkin
I think that Lily and Dunkin is a good book. It is about two boys named Tim and Norbert. Tim wants to be a girl, and Norbert hates his name and has to take pills because is bipolar. First, Tim: He wants to be a girl, but his/her father won’t accept it. He yells at Tim when he/she tries to be like a girl. Tim’s mother and sister are okay with Tim being a girl, but his/her father thinks that Tim should be a boy. Next, Norbert: He takes pills everyday because he is bipolar. He doesn’t like it. He also hates his name. He does not like to be called “Norbert.” Tim and Norbert liked to be called “Lily” and “Dunkin.” They became friends, but it changed when Dunkin became friends with a bully. They lived their separate lives for awhile. Eventually, Lily was accepted as a girl, and Dunkin left the bullies and became friends with Lily again.
I think that Lily and Dunkin was a good book. It shows real struggles of real people. I also think that it has a really sweet ending. I liked Lily and Dunkin and recommend it for ages 9-14.
