Ellie Ultra: Queen of the Spelling Bee
Ellie Ultra is a book about a little girl who is the queen of the spelling bee at her school. I wanted to read this book because I love to spell words, and I even like reading the dictionary. I have never been in a spelling bee, but I hope I will be someday. The other characters in this story are Ms. Bumble (who says “zzzz” instead of “s”), Hannah, and Ian Chang (who tries to spell the word “zone”). Mr. Cleveland, who is the principal and who runs the spelling bee, is another character. In this book, Ellie participates in the spelling bee and has several exciting adventures along the way. Does she spell “zither”? You will have to read find out. Does she win the spelling bee? You’ll have to read this book and find out. One thing about this book that I really liked was when Ellie spelled “ooga-chooga-looga lay,” because that was really silly. One thing I didn’t like about this book was when Ellie tried to spell “trouble” because I’m not a fan of trouble! I thought this book was interesting and different from other books I have read.
