On Christmas Eve, a boy named Cody has a party with his family. His family has traditions, like eating meat pies, which Cody thinks is silly. It was almost midnight, and Cody’s Grandpa was still staying in his room. Charlie went to go check on his grandpa, and he found Grandpa looking at a picture. Grandpa explained to Cody that the picture was of his friends from the Vietnam War. On Christmas Eve, when they were in Vietnam, they missed their families, so they all went outside and stood under a bright star, hoping their families were looking at it, too. These men made a tradition that every Christmas Eve they would look up at the brightest star and remember each other. Cody learns that Christmas traditions are important.

I really loved Cody and Grandpa’s Christmas Tradition because it shows how important Christmas traditions are. My family has many traditions that we do every Christmas, even eating meat pies, just like in the story. I liked the illustrations; they helped tell a lot more of the story. I liked this book so much that I will read Cody and Grandpa’s Christmas Tradition every year at Christmas.
