Coat of Many Colors
Did you know that the singer Dolly Parton also writes songs? She wrote a song called “Coat of Many Colors,” and that’s what this book is all about. This is a rhyming book, and a sweet book, too. In this book, a little girl wears a coat that kind of looks like a quilt. It is made up of lots of different pieces of fabric that are different colors. The little girl goes to school, and her classmates tease her about her coat! They are nice to her by the end of the story, but you’ll need to read the book to find out how the little girl deals with other kids teasing her. I really liked that Dolly Parton had another song called “Making Fun Ain’t Funny.” I agree that it’s not funny to make fun of someone else. I liked also that the little girl tried her best to make something good come from a not-so-good situation. There wasn’t anything about the book that I didn’t like, even though I like to read stories that have more words! Boys and girls who love music will enjoy this book.
