Brave Like My Brother
Brave Like My Brother is a book about two brothers who send letters to each other to tell what’s going on where they live. The main characters are Charlie, the younger brother, and Joe, the elder brother. Charlie is the first one to send a letter; he did it by sneaking it into Joe’s backpack even though Joe has told him a 10,000 times not to touch his stuff. The book has a lot of phrases which I liked, for example:
• “Crossing the ocean doesn’t automatically make you a hero.”
• “You’re welcome for saving your life.”
• “War is just life with bigger bullies.”
The letters date back to the 1900s, but the author used the letters from 1942, 1943, and 1944 and it takes place in England and Cleveland, Ohio. So if you want to learn more about World War II and soldiers then come along and read this book.
